Memorial Day Service at Magnolia Cemetery

Due to the Coronavirus Katy VFW Post 9182 has found it necessary to cancel our annual Memorial Day program held at Katy Magnolia Cemetery. This year it was planned for Memorial Day, May 25. We will be placing flags on our veterans graves on Saturday May 23, at 8:30 a.m. requiring social distancing and masks.Type your paragraph here.

The current  "Stay at Home" order is extended through April 30, 2020 the post, including the office and Veterans Memorial Museum will be closed.  Please limit leaving phone messages and email as there will be limited access to the office phone and computer. We will continue to monitor local authorities and adjust as needed.​.

Black Bear Dinner Fund Raiser – 3/16/2020

Due to the growing concerns over the spread of coronavirus and in an abundance of caution, Black Bear Diner has canceled all fund raisers through April.  The post will be working to re-schedule for a later date.


Awards and Dining-Out Dinner – 3/21/2020

Due to the growing concerns over the spread of coronavirus and in an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone the Awards and Dining-Out Dinner, until further notice, to avoid potential exposure and risk to the public. If you have already paid for tickets you can recover your check or cash from Betty. We will continue to monitor the situation and plan to reschedule as soon as we believe it is safe to do so.

Family Freedom Festival – 3/28/2020

Due to the growing concerns over the spread of coronavirus and in an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone the Family Freedom Festival until the fall to avoid potential exposure and risk to the public. This decision was based on competent medical advice, as reported in the national media concerning exposure and transmission of the virus, and actions taken by local agencies.

Naval Sea Cadet Corps – Katy Division - 3/13/2020 + 30 Days

Due to the growing concerns over the spread of coronavirus and in an abundance of caution, all Sea Cadet activities are canceled for 30 days to avoid potential exposure and risk to the public. This decision was based on competent medical advice, as reported in the national media concerning exposure and transmission of the virus, and actions taken by local agencies.

VFW Post 9182 Veterans Memorial Museum

Due to the growing concerns over the spread of coronavirus and in an abundance of caution, we have decided to suspend tours at the Katy Veterans Memorial Museum until we are better able to evaluate the potential exposure and risk to our Docents and the public. This decision was based on competent medical advice, as reported in the national media concerning exposure and transmission of the virus, and that the group at greatest risk are the older population, many of whom have underlying health issues. We will continue to monitor the situation and plan to reopen the museum as soon as we believe it is safe to do so.
